It’s a GOOD life in Roodeplaat

If country living is what you choose for your family, then look no further. The area around the Roodeplaat Dam – just outside the city of Pretoria – is a haven for those who need space around them. Those who need to experience freedom. Those who need to breathe more freely.

“When we drive home from the Kolonnade Centre and pass the many small holdings where horses are kept for riding or stabling, I can feel how I start to calm down and feel at home”, says 15 year old Amelia from Kameelfontein.

Grey-haired Esther from Derdepoort says with a twinkling in her eye, she enjoys not to have to close curtains all the time as the neighbours’ houses are far apart.

Johann and Dorothy from the upmarket Sable Hills security estate in Leeuwfontein, particularly enjoy the bushveld atmosphere with its rich birdlife. Being active pensioners they often go for walks, even outside their beautifull estate where game roam freely. All of this keeps Johann, an avid photographer, constructively busy.

Adrenalin junkie Jonathan also loves living near the Roodeplaat Dam where he can participate in exciting outdoor activities, mostly offered by the many tourism facilities and lodges situated in the vicinity of the dam.

The residents of the Roodeplaat area form a caring community where they look out for each other’s safety, volunteer when veld fires need to be extinguished and offer assistance in all sort of emergency situations. They participate in local school and church life, or whatever their area of interest might be, which helps to form a close-knit community.
